Whilst far from a frequent occurrence, invertebrate surveys are often requested on brownfield sites that have been left to overgrow, mine/quarry sites, and on Habitats of Principal Importance: Woodlands, Good quality unimproved grassland, etc.

There are several protected species: principally, White Clawed Crayfish in water habitats and a significant number of butterflies, moths and beetles which are listed as Species of Principal Importance.

We have undertaken Marsh Fritillary (butterfly) Surveys for Natural England on an SAC site and Cornwall Wildlife Trust across many locations. This project is ongoing and will run until the end of 2028.

We have also been involved in the translocation of a small population of a blue butterfly in Bristol. This involved growing specific food plants for both adults and larvae, landscaping rooftop gardens and specifically designed habitats, and capturing and translocating larvae to their new home.

A management plan is in place to ensure the site remains suitable for at least 10 years.

We have undertaken several invertebrate surveys of quarries in Hampshire and surveys of waterways in Somerset, Hampshire, Wiltshire and Dorset.
